JIU-JITSU AND SUBMISSION GRAPPLING

Over 90% of all fights end on the ground or go there at some point in a confrontation. Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Grappling play a large role in rounding out our ground game at PFS Ottawa.
Influences come via Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Vale-Tudo no Gi Training, Judo (Ne-waza) and throwing, freestyle and Greco Roman Wrestling and Mixed martial arts.
A strong benefit of grappling training is that a person can train against a fully resisting opponent(s) and still learn and train in real time without the risk of injury incurred by arts such as boxing.
Students train the following and learn how to flow and transition.
Positions:

• Guard
• Open Guard (butterfly)
• Half Guard
• Mount
• Side Mount
• Side Control (Kesa-Gatame)
• Rear Mount
• N/S Position
• Knee on Belly
• Standing in Base

Position and Control
1. Know the position
2. Hold the position
3. Defend the position
4. Attack from the position
5. Submission
6. Ground Striking
